Sports News

Last year was a brilliant year for sport in Manor and this year has certainly started out the same way!

What a busy term it has been for football!

We have been amazed at how many children have participated in the tournaments and their attitudes demonstrated at all events. It has been wonderful to see such teamwork. We had three teams for Y5/6 compete across two tournaments and we placed 1st, 3rd and 7th across these two tournaments.

Well done also to our Y3 and 4 boys team who managed to place second out of 13 teams. This is an excellent achievement, especially as this was the first tournament for many members of the team.

Well done also to both our girls teams for your participation in the girls tournament. You all demonstrated excellent team skills and looked like you enjoyed every second!

Cross Country

A huge congratulations to Our cross-country team. Four of our pupils qualified for the final and one of our boys placed first in the boys cross-country race at Rocks Park. Well done also to everyone who took part. You were all an excellent representation of our school.

We kicked off the term by taking a group of Y5/6 to Uckfield College for a basketball taster session. It was brilliant seeing everyone have a go at a new sport and quickly develop skills throughout the session.

We also had a fun afternoon with a group of Year 2 and 3s at Uckfield Rugby Club. The children learnt a variety of rugby skills before applying these to a tag-rugby match.

Then we had a great time competing in Indoor Athletics where teams competed in a mixture of track and field events. Everyone adapted amazingly to all the different skills required and showed huge support for their fellow team members. We were impressed with everyone's determination and team spirit. We placed 5th!

Our final sporting event for the term was with KS1. A group of children in Year 1 and 2 had a fun session having a go at lots of different active skills. We have definitely got some athletes in the making!

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the events. You have all been fantastic role models for our school.

We have started with team from Y5 and 6 competing in a Netball tournament amongst other schools from our area. It was great to see all the skills they had learnt and practised in the netball club applied in the matches. They were amazing and came 3rd overall.
