Sports News

Last year was a brilliant year for sport in Manor and this year has certainly started out the same way!

TERM 1 2022

We have had a busy start to the new year at Manor. We were pleased to participate in the annual cross country event held at Rocks Park. We were very proud of all those who represented Manor and did not give up even when they began to tire. Well done to Isaac Morley, Verity Levett, Emelleen Sirin, William Howells and Tate Inman who have qualified for the next round.

Our children at Manor have also enjoyed participating in various football tournaments against Uckfield schools throughout the term. We were off to a super start when one of our year 5/6 teams worked really well together to achieve first place. We are also incredibly proud of our two teams who have qualified for the North Wealden finals which will be taking place soon!

It has also been great to see so many children enjoying their swimming lessons at Freedom Leisure. We are incredibly fortunate to have the swimming facilities so close.

We have also had the first lot of sports after school clubs start and it is wonderful to see children having a chance to be active afterschool.

We look forward to seeing what sporting achievements will happen throughout the rest of the term.

Term 2

We are pleased to share the exciting news of Manor Primary School's recent success in the local interschools football competition. Having won the tournament in September against all the other Uckfield schools, Manor's team of Year 5 and 6 boys progressed to the next round of the competition, attending the North Wealden finals at Uckfield College on the 23rd of November. This was a tough tournament, and the boys came top of their group, finally winning the tournament by beating the team that had topped the other group, in a tense and exciting final. The standard of football was excellent, and the boys showed strong teamwork. As a result of this win, the team will now progress to the Danone U11 regional final, which will be held at Lancing in February. Well done to all the boys, and good luck with the next stage of the competition.

Term 3

On Tuesday 17th January we took a group of Year 6 and Year 5 boys to the Danone Sussex Schools football final, having won both the Uckfield schools and the Wealdon schools tournaments to qualify. We are grateful to FOMS who funded a minibus so that we could travel together, and this was a fun part of the experience. The tournament was against 7 other schools from across West and East Sussex. The standard of football was extremely high, and we were proud that our boys managed to get through to the semi final, when we were knocked out by a team from Hove. Placing fourth out of eight teams is a very respectable result. We enjoyed the day, and we were proud of the teamwork that our boys showed.
