Term 2

It is hard to believe we are already starting Term 2 and before we know it, it will be Christmas.  Thank you for the fantastic support with the bottle donation for the Christmas Bazaar on the last day of term 1.  It will soon be here!  This term we will have another non-uniform day for our chocolate tombola.

Term 2 will be a very busy term with lots of activities for children and parents.  The parent workshops continue across the term and you will find posters around the school with dates and times.  Please sign up and join us.  The children will be involved in the Big Sing, KS1 performances and more sports tournaments.  Our Christmas celebrations will involve the whole school going to Holy Cross Church.  We did this for the first time last year and it was such a memorable event we are doing it again.  Please look out for our School Christmas Tree in the church.

"Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps, Everyone Succeeds."
School Improvement focus this term
We are continuing our focus on further developing the teaching and learning of phonics and spelling.

The staff are;
- running workshops for parents to help them support their children with phonics and spelling
-have identified  new resources to support children with their phonics and spellings e.g. more phonetically decodeable books
- devising a tracking system for phonics that shows children's progress and informs next steps for each child.

The Learning Evaluation Group will be asking the children about their views on the changes we are making.

Assembly Themes  - Term 2

We are exploring news events linked to British values in some of our assemblies across the term.  Each week we are also focusing on a key learning skill.

Our Themes this term are:

Respect.  When is it important to show respect?  Showing respect towards others is important because it shows we value one another as human beings.  Respect can be shown in lots of different ways, including kindness, support and being polite.

Courage.  Linked to Values for Life, Armistice Day and The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Creativity.  Linked to Values for Life.

WOW forms are available to download from the website (School Office tab) or from the letter in the entrance lobby. Your response has been so wonderful we need to create a bigger board to display them all. We want to continue to celebrate all of your child's achievements in and out of school.   Thank you.
