Home Learning

Reminders

Maths
will be supported in class and for homework with MyMaths.  A password will be given to your child to enable him/her to access their set work from home. Please also help your child to learn their times tables.  This is an ongoing task.  Children will need to know up to 12 times tables by the end of year 4, including the inverse operation (division).

Spellings
are sent home termly.  The most effective way of practising these spellings is to ask your child to write a sentence with the word in.  This helps them to use the word in context.

Reading
 - In Year 4 there is a MINIMUM expectation that children should read at home 3 times a week.  Please complete their reading diary when they have done this.  Each read at home will contribute to their reading challenge.  Every day they read at home they will be allocated 20 miles.  The challenge is to travel around the UK and back to Uckfield.  There are prizes along the way!!

Bug Club
can be used by the children in school or at home.  They can read these as part of the reading challenge.
Year 4 Homework

Term 2

All the children need to know their times tables up to 12. Please help them at home and encourage them to use TT Rockstars.
Children need to create a poster, diary of learning or times tables booklet to show their understanding and effort made to learn them.
If your child is competent and knows all of their times tables off by heart and out of order, they need to work on their rapid recall. They can show this through their evidence on TT Rockstars.

HOME LEARNING - TERM 3/4

Due In: 07/03/19

We have been learning how to write a non-chronological in our English lessons. We would like you select a subject which interests you and write your own non-chronological report. This could be football, Harry Potter or something else!

We would like to see:
- an introduction
- three paragraphs with sub-headings
- diagrams with labels
- images with a caption

Remember the expectations we have at school. You should be proud of this piece of home learning so you will need to consider your handwriting, spelling and presentation.
