Year 3 - Term 3
Our Learning Journey this term is 'Jewels of the Jurassic Coast'
Here are some of the things we will be learning this term.

In English we will be reading Fossil by Bill Thomson and Stone Girl, Bone Girl by Laurence Anholt.

The language from Stone Girl Bone Girl combined with the exciting imagery from Fossil will help us to write our own adventure story based on the Jurassic coastline..

Our science continues to help us explore the question ‘Why is the Jurassic coastline disappearing?’ when we will sort and classify rocks and soils based on various properties. We will also be talking about the process of fossilisation.

We will be starting the term by looking at money and converting pounds and pence. We will continue our formal method for multiplying and dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. Towards the end of the term we will make the link between dividing and fractions and look at identifying different fractions including tenths. Finally we will be having a practical exploration of length to finish the term.

We will be continuing with our recorder lessons concentrating on the notes B, A and G.

We continue to follow the Jigsaw scheme and the unit we will be looking at is called ‘Dreams and Goals’.

Our learning journey is centred on the Jurassic coast this term. We will be using this area as a case study to explore ‘Why is the Jurassic coastline disappearing?’ Our Geography will focus on our use of various maps including OS maps with 4-figure gird references and we will discover the process of coastal erosion.

We will be learning the numbers 1-20 in French as well as colours and days of the week.

We will be learning gymnastics this term.
