TERM 6 HOMEWORK

During Term 6, we will be learning about journeys.

For their homework, we would like the children to explore a famous journey that has taken place in history. It can be any type of journey – successful or non-successful! E.g. Christopher Columbus, Amelia Earhart, Titantic, Apollo 13.

The children can show their learning in any way they wish, including posters, models, video re-enactments or any other creative format.

This homework will be due in on Friday 12th July for the children to share.

If you have any questions then please speak to your class teacher.

Reminders

Reading
is so important to help children with all areas of the curriculum.  Please read at home with your child 5 times each week and send your child's reading diary into school with them every day.

Maths
During Year 2 the children need to be able to learn and rapidly recall the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables.  There are lots of fun games to help them learn these online times tables books and old fashioned learning by rote is also very valuable.  A trophy has been donated to the school and will be handed out each week to children who are showing that they are learning their tables.

Spellings
are sent home on Friday afternoons to be learnt at home for testing in school the following Friday.  Please use the space in their book to practise as well as using phonics games online where possible.

Bug Club
can be used by the children in school or at home.  They can read these as part of the reading challenge.

Handwriting

Please continue to practise the correct letter formation for all lower case and upper cse letters in the alphabet. We have also begun to learn to join some digraphs e.g. ch, sh, th, er, ir, ur, oo, ou, ow etc.

Spellings:

Here are the spellings for this term which you will also find stuck in your child's spelling journal. The date below is a week beginning date, therefore these should be learnt that week. Please remember to learn these using a range of strategies e.g. rainbow writing, pyramid writing and look, say, cover, write, check.
